Record Expungements

Louisiana Expungements:

Oftentimes clients are unable to obtain employment because employers conduct criminal background checks on potential employees only to find that the person has a criminal record. We have experience in obtaining expungements for clients so that they can clear their record and obtain employment.

Depending on the crime, an expungement may be possible in state, municipal or traffic court. Even if you have a conviction, you may still be eligible for an expungement by setting aside the conviction (Article 894 for misdemeanors, Article 893 for felonies) and in some cases through the passing of certain time requirements or the obtaining of a First Offender Pardon. If the charge against you was dismissed or if you were acquitted through trial or otherwise, an expungement will likely be possible. Expungements of arrests include, but are not limited to:

  • Disturbing the peace
  • Public intoxication
  • Drug Possession
  • Theft
  • Attempted Theft
  • Open container ordinance violations
  • Underage drinking
  • Lewd Conduct
  • DUI/DWI
  • Solicitation
  • Resisting arrest
  • Simple battery
  • Drug possession
  • Certain possession with the intent to distribute crimes
  • Certain violent crimes
  • Other non-violent crimes

Louisiana Revised Statute 44:9 has been replaced by Act 145. Beginning on August 1, 2104 the following expungement law and qualifications will apply:
